Kathleen & Andy

6.17.2023 | Fernbank Muesum

How We Met

We heard from Kathleen & Andy and Kathleen’s mom, Susan, last July. They were in the process of securing a date and venue for their wedding celebration and they were looking for a coordinator to tie it all together. Kathleen & Andy were already planning a backyard ceremony for the fall which took some pressure off their June celebration - but still needed help making it a stress-free day!

Down to Business

We did a couple virtual meetings with Kathleen & Susan before the October wedding to lock down key vendors and come up with a loose timeline. This was mostly so they could put all their focus on the ceremony (the most important part of any wedding day). Once Kathleen & Andy were married and settled into newlywed life, we met one time in person at The Fernbank to talk details and floor plans before Megan went on maternity leave. We wanted to make sure they had everything they needed before she went out of office for a while! We met virtually a few more times before celebration day along with a venue walkthrough at the 30-day point. Things were moving right along!

The Big Day

When it was finally celebration day, Victor and Catie Cartee Strow started hair and makeup on Kathleen, Susan, and Kathleen’s sister Cara at the hotel down the road from The Fernbank. Later in the afternoon, we were given access to the venue space and it was time to get ready! Atlanta Party Rentals had already unloaded all the rental chairs and were in the process of putting them around the tables while Lowcountry Catering started unloading the food and linen and Buckhead Wright's was getting ready to drop centerpieces! SiFi Entertainment was setting up his equipment and Maggie Dunn arrived a little while later to scope out the venue and greet Kathleen & Andy when they arrived! We were off to the races! The Fernbank went from a beautiful blank canvas to a room full of color and fun! Kathleen & Andy got some photos together before meeting their family and friends out in front of the museum for photos. Cocktail hour began as the front hall started filling up. A charcuterie board along with passed hors d’oeuvres and an open bar awaited the guests. Kathleen & Andy got to be a part of the cocktail hour to say hello and chat with their guests (which we love). When the time was right, we sent the guests down to their seats to begin the celebration! Kathleen & Andy were introduced into the space along side the Jurassic Park Theme Song which was perfect for two reasons - one because of the dinosaurs in the space and two because it was the first movie they watched together! Our newlyweds said a thank you to their guests, we heard a welcome speech from Andy’s dad, a sweet poem by Kathleen’s mom, and a prayer by Kathleen’s dad before we opened the buffet. There were two buffet stations - an American side and an Indian side and guests were encouraged to try both sides! While guests were waiting for their food or after they finished dinner, they could go check out the Survival of the Slowest Exhibit with live animals - so fun!

When everyone had their fill, Kathleen & Andy cut the cake from Dulce Vegan Bakery & Cafe (which was both beautiful AND yummy) before Kathleen & Andy did their first dance, and Kathleen and her dad danced to a surprise song he picked out. Then it was time to PARTY! Kathleen & Andy hired the fusion package with SiFi Entertainment which came with a saxophone and a bongo player which made dancing SO much more fun! The fun didn’t stop there! We brought out the colored heart sunglasses and foam light-up sticks to make the dance floor literally light up beneath the dinos. This group knew how to party, but all good things must come to an end. We asked guests to meet us out front of the museum for a streamer send-off. Kathleen & Andy got into a super fun vintage Grand Cherokee driven by a family friend to be whisked away. The remaining guests hopped onto Kelly Tours bus to go to the hotel for the after-party!

Something Spectacular

Before we opened the dance floor, The Fernbank pulled out a surprise! Bowser the turtle came to wish Kathleen & Andy a happy marriage! He even dressed up for the occasion! Our newlyweds were so surprised and happy to see their special guest! All the guests got a kick out of Bowser on the dance floor as well! Such a fun touch!

Happily Ever After

We love Kathleen & Andy and we are so glad they chose Marmaros Productions to help make their celebration so memorable! We know Kathleen & Andy will have a happy marriage full of love and fun and we cannot wait to see where the future takes them! Cheers to the new Mr. & Mrs. Bishnoi!
