How We Met
We first heard from Kate and LJ in February of 2023. Kate had heard of us through a vendor friend of ours, Kailey Kercher. We set up a call with Kate to go over all things that Marmaros provides and to hear about how we could potentially fit into her and LJ’s day! Shortly after that call, we had an April 2024 wedding at SCAD Ivy Hall on our schedule and we were so excited to get to be a part of Kate & LJ’s wedding day!
Down to Business
Shortly after booking, we set up another call with Kate and her mom, Mary. In that call, we went through what the vision was for the wedding and answered any wedding-related questions Kate and Mary had! We continued to meet virtually leading up to the wedding, knocking out logistics and helping with easing concerns or anxieties that naturally arise prior to the wedding! Kate and LJ decided to do a day of rehearsal which was great because we got to practice in the space and do the ceremony shortly after - this made all of the ceremony logistics so easy to remember for everyone involved in the ceremony!
The Big Day
The wedding day was here and we all made our way to SCAD Ivy Hall for Kate & LJ’s big day! The ladies spent the morning in the upstairs area hanging out, getting their hair done by TINTE Salon, doing their makeup, and munching on some delicious food from Alon’s Bakery. Nancy, the lead florist from Moss and Clay, arrived and got to work unloading her truck and placing the florals in the areas they would go in later in the day. When Mallory and Olivia, the coordinators from Marmaros, arrived they got straight to work ensuring chairs for the ceremony were correct and the reception tables were in the correct spot and getting tablecloths. We headed upstairs to say hello to the girls and to see if there was anything they needed from us. Shortly after, LJ and his groomsmen arrived and put their finishing touches on their suits from Indo Chino for the day. Once the girls were done with their hair, Kate got into her one-of-a-kind dress with the help of her mom, Mary, and sister, Theresa. Everyone except for our bride made their way outside in the garden for a day of rehearsal. Meanwhile, Brittany, their photographer, was busy capturing details of the day. Afterward, we tucked everyone back inside and made sure everyone was grabbing some water and resting before the ceremony began.
Kate and LJ’s friends played some live violin and guitar as guests grabbed their seats for the ceremony. We started the processional by sending the parents down the aisle followed by our groom and wedding party. Kate and LJ chose to have their wedding party, besides their people of honor, sit for the ceremony so once they were sent down the aisle, the wedding party promptly took their seats. Kate and LJ also chose not to do a first look, so we were excited to witness the moment that LJ got to see his bride for the first time! Kate was escorted down the aisle by her father, Perry, and took LJ’s hands once she had met him at the end of the aisle. Their dear friend, Ben, performed a beautiful ceremony that was so personal to them.
After the ceremony, guests were invited to the front drive for a cocktail hour and the team got busy pulling chairs from the ceremony to the dinner tables. Brittany, Kate, and LJ snuck away to the back garden to take some couple portraits and have some private time together prior to joining guests at the cocktail hour. Guests were invited to find their seats for reception which started with Kate and LJ making their way to the middle of the tables. LJ’s friends performed “Stay with Me” live for Kate and LJ’s first dance and then the microphone was handed over to Perry for a welcome toast. Figs & Honey Catering served guests a family-style dinner which was such a welcoming and intimate setting. As dinner was wrapping up, Kate danced with her father followed by LJ and his mother. Guests enjoyed desserts from The Little Tart Bakeshop which included Kate and LJ’s floral cake which is one of Kate’s favorites! Guests made their way back to where the ceremony was to dance the night away as Jason from Ballroom Blitz Events played some fun music. Before the end of the night, everyone also enjoyed some coffee and pizza from Glide Pizza. To send our couple off at the end of the night, guests brought out their phone flashlights and cheered Kate and LJ on while they ran through the tunnel into their car!
Something Spectacular
How a bride dresses on her wedding day is obviously very unique to her. For Kate, she actually didn’t purchase her dress from a store, instead, she had a one-of-a-kind dress made for her. Kate’s dress was a deconstructed version of her mom’s wedding dress. The styles were different, but the material was the same. The lace that we saw on Kate’s dress came from her mom’s dress! We love how this was a way for Mary’s wedding dress to be repurposed and for Kate to express her style at the same time! What a lovely way to honor your parents' marriage than by incorporating your mom’s dress into your own marriage story!
Happily Ever After
Kate and LJ’s wedding was absolutely lovely. We were so honored to be a part of their day!
Kate and LJ - congratulations on your marriage. We cannot wait to see where this next chapter in life takes you both!
