How We Met

Back in October of 2020, Jennifer and Alex actually got to see us in action! Jennifer was a bridesmaid in Alexandra & Taylor’s wedding and was impressed with our work. We heard from Jennifer and Alex shortly after they got engaged in 2021, and talked with them how we could be a part of their wedding day! We were thrilled to have a May 2022 wedding in Dahlonega and couldn’t wait to see some familiar faces at their wedding!

Love Story

“So... how did you meet?”

The answer to this question usually starts with “well, we met in middle school!” But frankly, we never talked then. Jenn did, however, draw pink hearts over Alex’s head in her 7th-grade yearbook *cue the awwwwwws*. We went to different high schools but remained Facebook friends.

Years later, Jenn saw a video online of Alex singing and noticed he would be playing at a local rooftop bar that weekend. She invited friends to come along and had a wonderful time... but totally chickened when it came to talking to Alex! Instead, she sent a message somewhere along the lines of “you sounded great tonight! I meant to say hey but you seemed busy!”. We continued talking and within a few weeks, we were grabbing coffee on our first date together. We have been inseparable ever since!

Our Engagement

APRIL 16, 2021

When I say Alex did a great job with our engagement weekend, I truly, truly mean it. And it took quite a village to make it happen! Long story short and lots of deviations from the plan later... Alex made plans for us to go backpacking at Amicalola Falls State Park on Friday, and Saturday we would meet up with our friends Jordan and Jessie to hike and camp with them. We arrived at Amicalola and started trekking with our huge backpacks in tow. I kept noticing how much faster and far less out of breath Alex was and joked about how my short legs couldn't keep up. We hiked about 2 miles and much to my surprise, Alex stops at an overlook point and says "I think this is a good spot to stop". What?! I was prepared to go for at least 5 miles at this point, but I could tell something was up Alex's sleeve. We start setting up camp, I'm removing rocks and sticks and leveling the ground where our tent will go and I turn around to Alex on one knee. *Cue the tears* Alex had rented a cabin nearby that had sushi takeout and wine ready for us. Fun fact, Alex stuffed his backpack with pillows, fake flowers, and wine (maybe a 15 lb pack), and mine... well it weighed at least double.

The next day we are preparing to meet Jordan and Jessie to camp as we had planned. We stopped for coffee in town and enjoyed the morning together before making the drive. Just when we were almost to the meet-up site, Alex passed me a blindfold to put on. He walked me on a path and it was quiet as a mouse until he removed my blindfold and SURPRISE! some of our closest friends and family were there cheering us on. They put on an amazing day with great food, heartfelt champagne toasts, and warm company around the campfire that I will never forget.

Down to Business

After we shared Jennifer and Alex on the planning documents, we got an email back from Jennifer expressing how excited she was to dive into planning and fill out documents because organizing things is her love language! This made planning go so smoothly because every time we met with Jennifer and Alex they came so prepared and with lots of questions! Our meetings typically included both Jennifer and Alex (we love when grooms join and participate in meetings) and were both in person and virtual. At the start of 2022, all three of us and Jennifer’s maid of honor headed up to their venue, Juliette Chapel, where we toured the space, took measurements of everything, and created a floor plan. After that day we all could envision what the day would look like so we were just anxiously waiting for May to come! The day before the wedding day, we drove over to the cabins where the family, wedding party, and Jennifer and Alex were staying and held a casual rehearsal so that everyone could know where to stand the following day.

The Big Day

The Wedding day was finally here! Annie East Makeup, the makeup artist, and Caroline White Cosmetics, the hair artist, arrived at the ladies' cabin to start the beautification process! Jennifer and her mom had stocked the cabins with lots of good food, snacks, and drinks so the ladies hung out and munched on some goodies while hair and makeup was happening! Once the girls were all ready, they hopped on the transportation from DahloneGO to make their way to the venue. We met them at the venue, Juliette Chapel, and said our hellos before pulling tables and chairs from Fox Fire Event Rentals to replicate the floor plan we had made. The ladies stepped into their dresses and let us tell you - Jennifer looked STUNNING in her dress from BHLDN! Tiffany of Tiffany Holmes Photography arrived at the venue and started to take the getting-ready photos along with a sweet first look between Jennifer and her father. Alex and the groomsmen arrived at the venue and hid out until it was time for Alex to see his bride. While photos of Jennifer and Alex and their wedding party happened, we were busy at work setting out the flowers and decorations for the day. The flowers were a combination of rented faux flowers from Something Borrowed Blooms and a variety of wildflowers that Jennifer and her mom brought - the venue was filled to the max with beautiful blooms!

Guests had started to arrive and find their seats for the ceremony, so the family and wedding party took some time to rest up and grab some water before walking down the aisle. Once the chapel was full, we started to send everyone down the aisle to the guitar melodies played by Cali Wilson. Their officiant, Fred Odom, held a sentimental and touching ceremony. While the ceremony was happening, we were outside setting up the charcuterie station for guests to enjoy with drinks at cocktail hour! Jennifer & Alex had said their I Do’s and sealed their marriage with a kiss, and headed to take the large family photos. Guests grabbed drinks from their bartender, Taylor Roberson, and grabbed their individual charcuterie boxes which Jennifer had made herself the week of the wedding!

To kick off the reception, we kept everyone outside and the new Mr. & Mrs. Guthrie were introduced! They shared their first dance under the romantic string lights before we invited everyone inside to hear a welcome from both of Jennifer’s parents. Jennifer and Alex and their wedding party kicked off the line to grab food from the Yumbii food truck. We could tell that everyone was loving their food, but the favorite thing of the dinner was definitely the sesame french fries! During dinner, we heard heartfelt toasts from a few of Jennifer and Alex’s loved ones before they grabbed the mic and thanked everyone for coming to celebrate their love. Obviously, no dinner is complete without desserts, so Jennifer and Alex cut their cake and grabbed a cookie from Crumbl Cookies before the cookie bar was opened for the night.

We invited everyone back outside to kick off the dancing for the evening. We saw dances between Alex, his mom, and his step-mom, and between Jennifer and her dad. Guests were then invited to join them under the lights to dance the night away to the music of Alex’s band! While dancing was happening, we grabbed Jennifer and Alex, their wedding party, and their immediate family for a fake sparkler send-off so we could have that photo moment before their photographer headed out. The rest of the evening was dancing to the live music, grabbing snacks, and mingling with loved ones and we honestly could not have imagined a better end to Jennifer and Alex’s day!

Something Spectacular

Jennifer and Alex always knew that they wanted the music of their wedding day to be played by Alex’s very talented friends and band members. Unfortunately the night before the wedding, the lead singer and guitarist for their wedding had an emergency and was unable to attend the wedding. Jennifer and Alex did not allow this to upset their plans and they just rolled with the punches! Alex stepped in and played guitar and sang songs for the reception. The band made sure to also have a Spotify playlist so that all of them could get out on the dance floor throughout the night, but it was so special to see Alex getting to do what he loves at his own wedding while Jennifer watched him perform with star-struck eyes! One moment that we will never forget is when Alex sat down on the piano and sang the song “Isn’t She Lovely” to his bride. Sure they were surrounded by all of their loved ones, but that moment truly felt like they were the only two in the world. I’m pretty sure everyone’s hearts grew a few sizes at this moment! We love how rolling with the punches actually ended up creating precious memories that will last a lifetime!

Happily Ever After

It was such a joy to help plan and coordinate Jennifer and Alex’s wedding! From the initial meeting to wedding day everything was easy going and so fun with these two. We know that this new chapter of marriage is going to be incredible and we wish them nothing but the best. Congrats to the new Mr. & Mrs. Guthrie!
