Alex & Matt

11.11.2019 | Tate House

How We Met

Megan formerly worked at the Tate House but before that, she got married there! Cindy is the Event Sales Manager at the Tate House so she booked Megan & Brandon’s wedding and then eventually helped Megan get a job as a Wedding Planner. When Cindy’s daughter, Alex, got engaged and was going to get married at the Tate House - Megan stepped up to help since Cindy had helped Megan in more ways than one over the last three years! Alex & Megan had met a few different times over the three years but really got to know each other over this wedding process!

Love Story

Every love story is unique which is why we love asking our couples to share their journey with us. Alex & Matt's is so sweet! Read from Alex's point of view:

"This is how our love story began, over a cup of coffee. Matt and I were introduced to each other by a friend. We were both a little hesitant to get together after being in long term relationships prior. Our first date was an amazing day spent at the Georgia Aquarium. We found it hard after that day not to spend time together. What started out as best friends quickly escalated. After numerous movies, picnics, concerts, we found ourselves ready to take the next step as it was so hard for us to be apart. We took a giant leap and rented our first apartment together. It wasn't long after that we found ourselves once again at the Georgia Aquarium...only this time when we went to our favorite spot with all the whale sharks, Matt got down on one knee. We both cried he asked me to be his bride and gladly without hesitation, I said yes. We sealed the deal on November 11th, the happiest day of our lives."

Down to Business

Since Megan and Cindy worked together, they would talk occasionally about Alex & Matt’s plans and anticipations for their wedding day. Megan met with Alex & Matt once at their house to talk about the timeline and more specifics about their day. Alex & Matt are very laid back so it really only took the one meeting and rehearsal to make sure everything was how they wanted it! And since all the vendors are either Tate Employees or on the preferred vendor list - everything was sure to run smoothly!

The Big Day

Alex & Matt work at Alex’s family’s restaurant in Tate which is open during the weekends and closed on Monday and Tuesday. In order to keep the restaurant open and to have a lot of their close family and friends at the wedding, Alex & Matt decided a Monday Wedding fit their needs best! So on that beautiful November morning, we arrived to help with set up and to make sure everything was going smoothly (even to make sure Cindy was relaxing and not working!). Chelsea, the hair artist, & Ashton, the make-up artist, arrived early ready to transform our beautiful Alex into a stunning bride while Michelle, the photographer, arrived to capture all of Alex's thought-through details and getting ready photos. After Alex & Matt were dressed and exchanged notes, it was time for the first look. Something totally different Alex & Matt did was stand back to back first before turning around to see each other for the first time! They were so excited to see each other there were smiles all around! While they were taking photos in front of the Mansion, John, Alex’s Dad, came up to do their emotional first look! Family photos & bridal party photos took place in front of the house and all around the grounds. Guests started to arrive as we were putting finishing touches on the reception area and we were ready for the ceremony!

Obviously, the Tate House has a stunning ceremony space with large glass doors, beautiful marble flooring, & light and airy feel, but can we talk about the GORGEOUS circle arch that served as a background for the ceremony - talk about a show stopper!!! The ceremony was so beautiful and captured Alex & Matt’s love so well - complete with happy tears and belly laughs. The smile on Alex & Matt's face was genuine happiness!

After a cocktail hour with delicious food, the guests made their way to the ballroom to find their seats. And the ballroom was so, so stunning! The circle arch from the ceremony was moved behind the sweetheart table and all centerpieces had a vintage boho look to match the arch. In addition, the cake they chose was a 5 tiered cake that was so unique it was complete with a planetarium! After Alex & Matt were introduced, all three formal dances took place and Alex’s dad gave a beautiful welcome speech before we opened the mouth-watering buffet (when your family owns a restaurant, your wedding food isn’t just wedding food)! We cut the stunning wedding cake before speeches and opening the dance floor. And let's just say this group rocked the dance floor all night thanks to Estaban from Espetute Productions - even getting most of the Tate House Staff out on the floor!

We took Alex & Matt out to take photos with the vintage Rolls Royce before throwing the garter and bouquet toss and lining up for send-off. RIS Limo's Rolls Royce made send off such a memorable experience and the sparklers added a romantic feel to the photos!

Happily Ever After

Even in this New Year, we know Alex & Matt are still reliving their wedding day! We loved getting to be a part of this day as a coordinator and a friend to Alex, Matt, & their families. We know they will always keep their love alive! Congratulations Alex & Matt!
