About Us

Welcome to our brand new blog! My name is Mallory and I’m going to be walking you through our path to entrepreneurship. We wanted to try something a little different to give everyone a closer look at the stories of our couples and the wedding experiences that we love so much! This “Demo Blog” helps readers get a feel on what to expect when we post about our first wedding of the new year!

Humble Beginnings

Meet Marmaros: Megan and I started this company with a dream but little “in the field” experience. Megan & I met from taking various classes together in college. We frequently studied together (which was super easy considering we happened to become next door neighbors for three years straight) and it was in the midst of those study sessions that we became close friends.

In the fall of 2014, Megan convinced me to take a production class and she was so convincing that we both ended up taking on big roles in the production world - stage manager & lighting operator. Many do not realize how much planning goes into a stage production, but it was through making cue sheets and executing these sheets that we realized we loved planning the little parts of something big. Production was also where Megan and I started to grasp how well we work with one another.

Production was not the only thing on our schedules throughout college though - both of us had to learn the art of juggling various commitments such as campus ministry, Kennesaw State University Dance Company Presidency (Megan), sorority vice presidency (me), internships, and oh yeah - full loads of classes. Megan took Event Planning and Wedding Planning classes in college which prompted one of our professors to ask if Megan would like to be the Wedding Coordinator for her Reception in Atlanta. Megan was honored that her professor would trust her with her big day!

Knowing how well we worked together in Production, Megan asked me if I wanted to help with the wedding - of course I said yes! Everything went so smooth that other brides from KSU started to approach us asking if we could do their wedding as well. Before Marmaros Productions was even announced in March of 2017, we had booked three weddings! We learned a lot the first year of business - we thought of a name, built a website, created templates, grew instagram and facebook followers. All in all, we started to get into our groove.

We both graduated from KSU by the end of 2016, and being a recent college graduate means stepping out into the real world, which can sometimes be quite the wake up call. Along with kick starting our own company, we were looking to get any experience possible to best help us professionally grow.

Looking Forward

By June of 2017, I had started working in events through esports and concerts. Although esports and concerts are very different from weddings, I started to learn a lot of practical logistical things about events through working these two jobs. In November of 2017, Megan got a job working at a wedding venue where weddings started to become second nature to her. She became faster on her feet and more fluent in wedding planning. In the midst of working our “9-5 jobs”, we closed out 2017 with four weddings. We learned an important lesson - comfort surpasses fashion when it comes to shoes on a big day!

2018 has come and gone, and we are still in shock of how much growth came within the year! We had our first double wedding day, got published in a magazine, and saw our name become more well known - it truly was a great year for Marmaros Productions! In 2018, we almost doubled the amount of weddings from 2017 and our goal is to do the same this year!

As for 2019, we can already see such great potential for Marmaros Productions! Last weekend we coordinated our first wedding of the year with Savannah & Oliver (be on the lookout for their blog). As we speak, Megan is off finalizing those last minute details with Katie & Chip, whose wedding is next on our calendar! We will be revisiting venues and working with some of our favorite vendors again in this new year. We also hope to announce a fun surprise come March of this year!

It’s only January and we can already tell that 2019 is going to be a big year for us, but we are so thankful for that! We appreciate all of the love and support we have received so far! We can’t wait to have you on this journey with us this year as we continue to grow!
